| 簡介： | “What Animals Need” is the first in a 3-part set of booklets in the Responsible Pet Ownership Kit. This kit has been developed specially for children who want to have a pet. 「動物的需要」是「飼養寵物的責任-兒童學習手冊」內三本書冊中的首本。這套書冊是為想飼養寵物的兒童而設計的。 Our aim is to encourage children to understand the basic needs of animals, and through examples of pets such as red-eared terrapins, goldfish, lovebirds, dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, frogs and beetles, to encourage them to consider their suitability to their own household before bringing one home. 我們的目的是要鼓勵小朋友明白動物的基本需要，並且通過以不同寵物作為例子，如巴西龜、金魚、愛情鳥、狗、貓、倉鼠、兔子、葵鼠、龍貓、青蛙及甲蟲，來鼓勵他們考慮清楚這些動物是否適合在他們家中飼養，才可作出飼養的決定。 |

| 簡介： | “Animal Life Cycles” is the second booklet in the Responsible Pet Ownership Kit. 「動物的生命週期」是「飼養寵物的責任-兒童學習手冊」內的第二本書冊。 In simplified language, it explains that every living thing on earth has a life cycle. All animals go through different stages of development but depending on the species they may have different lifespans: they may live two years or twenty. So potential pet owners need to be aware of the care an animal needs at different stages of its life before deciding to bring one home. A pet is for life, and not to be dumped on the street when the novelty wears off. 簡單來說，這本書冊解釋世上所有生物都有生命的週期。所有動物都會經過不同階段的發展，但牠們壽命長短則取決定牠們的類別，壽命可能只有兩年，也或許二十年。因此準寵物主人必須在決定把動物帶回家前，要清楚明白動物在不同生命階段所需的照顧。寵物是跟隨您一生一世的，絕不能因缺乏新鮮感後便棄養牠們在街上。 |
